Silkscreen Book

Here is the book version of 'Money Money'. I made a hard cover book for the silkscreen version and became an accordian fold out book. I've been doing more and more silkscreen and bookmaking lately, I've been thinking of taking 'A Perfect Empire' solely as an original art, screen printed book making factory rather than just the same ol' press printed. (which is still nice)

new contest.

But not really a contest, does anyone win anything? I dont think so. Is there even a winner? I dont think so. But this is a new "art challenge" then. Haha. So let me begin to say what it is.

A drawing. Any medium of course. of a fictional creature. This creature mustn't have eyes, nor a functional jaw. The way it "sees" the world has to be in a completely innovative yet sensical way. The way it eats must be the same. Although none of us are biologists, i'd like the biology of this creature to be a main focus.

Functional would be the key word. Although it can resemble a living creature of earth, i'd prefer if it was almost completely foreign.

This challenge was inspired by Wayne Douglas Barlowe. He is one of my favorite artists. There was a program on the discovery channel called "alien planet", and he was the main guy...came up with the aliens and how they "worked". Very thorough. Here are some images to get you inspired too!

Ok, i hope people have fun with this. Even though i put a whole bunch of rules in it i think. Oh well. Rules can be fun too! Alrighty. Oh, and it doesnt have to be all super professional clean and painterly. Can be even technical sketches. As long as the ideas are conveyed and complete. Okay. FUN.

bye bye.

Art-Burn Jam #2: Album Cover.

Gabe Pinto:
If you made an album, what would the cover looks like? What genre? This one's probably a bit more of an investment in time than the last one but it seems fun.
So take the time and create the cover to your bad-ass album. Any medium.
Due-date: When we stop gettin' entries.

Remember: Post your entry as a new post and I'll edit it into this post.

Get your drawsticks ready and lets go!

Ulises:
So here's the album art? that i made for my album? Yeah. i made a few songs last year, been meaning to make more. I made about 5, but only about 3 i like. I want to make ten. This is the art.

Gabe Pinto:
Meow Bitches!

Jon Sperry:

Hey, I finished this illustration today - and even though it wasn't intentionally for this contest - i thought it looked like a cd cover.

Robot Self Portrait Competition

So we're done with school and need to make sure we continue working. Here is a little art-burn competition to keep those creative juices flowing:

Draw your self-portrait as a robot. Post your portrait as a new post with the label: 'robot portrait'. I know everyone is dealing with graduation, but please post your artwork here by next Tuesday (5/15/07). Everything else is up to you (color, size, style, pose, whatever). Just make it AWESOME!

Good luck!

**Edit**
For the sake of space within out labels, I'm gonna edit Sperry's original posts whenever a new entry is added and delete the entry post. Entries will be placed in the order they are posted and whatever text is in you post will be placed below the image. Like so:

THOMAS PITILLI:
I will be the first to admit that this is super fucking emo. I just started drawing and this is what came out. I just did this real quick, markers then straight to photoshop for some quick color. I tend to get a little carried away with the burn and dodge tool, but all in all, i had fun. Good idea, jon, we should do more of these. If you'll excuse me, i have to go listen to morrissey and have myself a good cry.
GABE PINTO:

Booyashaka!

ULISES:

I'm not sure how this is supposed to work. But i'll get the hang of it. I just wanted to post something, so that i can participate. This is a cool image of galactus. I hope you like it. I'll post something better later.

Actually, i'm just gonna go ahead and say that i did draw it. hell yeah i drew it, don't even doubt me. Thats the robot version of me. Hm. I just remembered...i actually have already drawn a robotic version of myself...i'll just post it here too. Is that ok?

I feel like i just stole someone's truck and i'm about to crash it.

Here's Ulitron. Its old, its a repeat from my other blog, but its the assignment. Maybe i'll draw something new...later?

Who'd win in a fight? Ulitron Vs. Galactus....(galactus would kick my ass...he's a planet destroyer and all that power cosmic bullshit)

JUN:

Still can't believe I'm officially out of school.
How are you guys doing?
JON SPERRY:

BZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

TIME TRAVELLING TV HEADED ROBOT COP GOOO!!

Initial drawing of TV headed robot concept. I don't have any good designs for his legs. Also, I want him to wear clothing but I haven't come up withi anything too good to show. Comments? Suggestions?

*EDIT*
I just drew and colored this after reading the comments. I'm trying really hard not to make him look like Kanti. I gave him a fin and a uniform of sorts. I also rounded his TV head a bit more. I also wanna make his head bigger.

Lamest 1st Post Ever...

Hey Ben and Roni... I'm picking up my graduation tickets Monday, and you guys had said you needed some extras (one for Ben, two for Roni...?). Lemme know when or how I should pass them off to you guys.

Thus concludes my first post... hope my later ones will be more interesting.

Alex Toth

Every few months or so i go through my Alex Toth craze and become amazed at how incredible an artist he really was. And whenever i go through a new search of his work, theres tons of stuff I've never even seen before, which just goes to show the enormous amount of work he was able to produce in his lifetime. This piece i recently came across and was blown away by it. The way he's able to get body language, realistic shadows and action across simply with the use of whatever was lying around(sharpies, pens, brushes, ect.) is something you don't see too often. If you haven't already seen this one before, enjoy! Wow, I guess I'm officially a member of artburn now!
